Instructions

1. Create a night sky by cutting
out constellations, stars, and
moon phases
from yellow
or gold paper
and gluing
them to large
sheets of black construction paper, or
painting stars and moon phases on the
paper. Attach the pages to an easel or the
back of a bookcase.
2. Read Good Night, Moon or other related
books to the children at group time.
3. Encourage the children to make
"telescopes" by gluing
construction or wrapping
paper on empty paper towel tubes.
4. Invite the children to look through
their telescopes at the "night sky"
pictures, identifying constellations,
shapes, or moon phases.
5. Let the children create their own night sky with star stickers and small black
construction paper.
6. Follow up by teaching the children "Star Light, Star Bright." Ask questions
such as, "What would you wish for if you wished on a star?"
