Materials

Ink pad Paper, two small pieces per child

Magnifying glasses

Instructions

1. Ask each child to press a pointer finger on the ink pad and then press the fingerprint on one small piece of paper. Repeat with the other pointer finger.

2. Encourage the children to explore their fingerprints with the magnifying glasses.

3. Explore other children's fingerprints.

4. Mix up the pieces of paper and try to find the matching fingerprints.More to doLanguage: Make a class book for each child containing the sentence, "The unique thing about me is ________.".Math: Measure hands with links, cubes, etc.More science: Discuss the fact that each person's fingerprints are different and that this tells us apart. Discuss how we all look different and are unique.
