Recite the following number problems, inviting the children to hold up the appropriate number of fingers for each line:There are five monkeys, and they each want a banana (hold up five fingers).The zookeeper has four bananas to give (hold up four fingers of your other hand). Does the zookeeper need more or fewer bananas to feed each monkey one?How many? I have six goldfish, but I want ten. How many more do I need?2. Think up different problems of your own, with the children adding and subtracting numbers together on their fingers.
