Instructions

1. Read Mrs. McNosh Hangs Up Her Wash to the children.
2. Later that day, or on another day when you are outside, ask a few children to
help you uncoil the rope and stretch it across the playground.
3. Say, "We're going to take a walk, but we are going to be hooked together just
like the clothes, furniture, and dog bone on Mrs. McNosh's clothesline. Let's
try to walk together holding onto this rope." Ask each child to hold onto the
rope.
4. Then, walk around the playground, holding onto the rope. "Don't pull too
hard. We don't want anyone to fall down. If anyone falls, we might fall too!
And remember, don't let go!"
5. Walk back to where you started. Sing "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" as you
walk back into the center. Ask each child to bring you his part of the rope as
he lets go.
