Instructions

1. At the beginning of the school year, take individual pictures of each
child, or ask parents to send a picture of their children.
2. Staple together (or use a hole punch and yarn) a few pieces of paper to
make a blank book. Make one for each child in the class.
3. Give each child a pre-made book. Help them create covers for their
books using their individual photos and help them print their names.
4. Discuss favorite things and encourage children to fill their books with
their "favorites." They may cut out pictures from magazines or draw their
favorite things.
5. Encourage the children to add to these books every week or month
throughout the year.
More to do Group or Circle Time: Encourage the children to talk about their favorite
things. Have a show-and-tell with favorite things.
Snack: Have the children make a "favorite foods" placemat for snack time
by cutting out pictures of foods and pasting them to a large piece of paper.
Laminate for durability. These can be wiped off after use.
