Instructions

* Labor Day is the first Monday in September. Fire Prevention Week is the
week in which October 9th occurs.
1. Whether you're discussing occupations around Labor Day in September
or observing Fire Prevention week in October, take an opportunity to
salute community helpers with this graphing activity.
2. Review the duties of different community helpers and let each child
choose a picture that represents a career he or she would like to have as
an adult.
3. Create a graph by placing a tagboard header card with the heading,
"Which would you rather be?" in the top row of a pocket chart.
4. Place pictures of various community helpers in the pockets to form
columns.
5. Have each child, in turn, place her name card under the column of her
choice.
6. Discuss the results of the graph.
