Instructions
1. Make postcards with the children. Ask each child to draw a picture of herself and sign her name. Write the children's addresses on their postcards and put stamps on them. With the children, bring the postcards to a post office and mail them. Then, take a tour of the post office.
2. Encourage the children to make pictures of themselves by decorating paper plates using yarn, crepe paper, and markers.
3. Cover a table with paper from a large paper roll. Encourage the children to draw on the paper using crayons and markers. Sing songs about "Me" and "Family."4. Help the children make nametags using paper dolls. Encourage them to use markers to draw clothes and faces. When they are finished, place stickers with the child's name on the doll. Hang the tags around everyone's neck using yarn or string.
5. Draw a portrait of each child. Attach a piece of white paper to a wall. Ask the child to sit in front of the paper, so you can see her profile. Position a lamp so that the shadow of her profile is on the paper. Trace the child's profile using a pencil. Help the child cut out her profile from the paper and glue it to a piece of black construction paper. Ask her to sign her name.
6. Make "people cookies" using a simple sugar cookie recipe. Help the children decorate the cookies to look like people using frosting, candy, and dried fruit.
7. To finish the "Me" theme, make yearbooks. Write on the covers, "From the top of my head to the tip of my toes, I am special!"
