Instructions
1. Use assorted boxes to create a Mexican villa with the children. Start with a
large piece of cardboard for the base of the villa. Tape the assorted boxes
closed.
2. Paint the boxes with rustic colors such as salmon pink or terra cotta, tan, or
brown.
3. Paint a small silver pie tin turquoise blue (to assimilate water) and glue it in
the center of the cardboard square. Use a marker piece from an old board
game (such as Clue or Pictionary) to put in the center of the pie pan. This will
be the village fountain.
4. Paint a variety of boxes to make houses, barns, a general store, and a church,
and cut little windows and doors into them. Glue little squares of fabric on
cut-out windows for curtains. Glue the boxes to the large cardboard square.
5. Glue small plastic figures around the villa. Add plastic animals, wagons,
barrels, wagon wheels, and so on. These items can often be found in cake
decorating sections of craft stores.
6. This is a wonderful project for children to create for Cinco de Mayo!
