Materials

white paper

scissors

red, orange, yellow, brown, and gold tissue paper squares

container of water

paintbrushes

Instructions

1. Cut out a variety of leaf shapes from white paper.
2. Encourage children to place tissue squares on their paper leaves one at a
time and brush with water.
3. Allow to dry.
4. Have the children remove the tissue squares. The leaves will be colored
from the tissue paper dye.
5. Display the leaves in the room.
More to do Art: Collect and press leaves for art projects.
Math: Have a "Biggest and Smallest Leaf" contest. Have the children collect
very small and very large leaves for the contest. Back in the classroom,
encourage the children to compare the sizes of leaves.
Outdoors: Make a pile of leaves and jump in them with the children.
