Instructions

What to do
1. Read Hansel and Gretel by the Brothers Grimm. Tell the children they are going to make their
own fairytale houses.
2. Have the children place their empty tissue boxes inside the sandwich bags.
3. Fold top of sandwich bag under, about 1" (3 cm), and tape it down to fasten. This is the base of
the house.
4. Fold the larger piece of paper in half. Then open it up and spread over fold of sandwich bag.
This serves as the roof.
5. Mark the smaller piece of paper into five equal sections, then fold. Open up and tape the first
section on top of last section, so it looks like a block open at the top and bottom.
6. Cut a "V" in the front and back of this block and set on top of the house as the chimney.
7. Invite the children to decorate the fairytale "gingerbread" house using the royal frosting to
"glue" the small food items.
