Instructions

1. Cut out 24 to 36 circles and decorate as cookies. Laminate or cover them with clear contact paper to make them more durable.

2. Read The Doorbell Rang for children to become acquainted with the events in the story.

3. Invite the children to role-play the characters in the story: Mom has a plate with 12 cookies. Divide the cookies between the children as they appear in the story.

4. At the end of the story, have "grandma" come in with a tray of another 12 to 24 cookies.

5. Divide the cookies between children. Talk about how many cookies each child has each time the doorbell rings.
