Instructions
1. Using a computer program that allows you to create frames or borders, make
the desired size to create your own cards to cut out.
Author's Note: I chose to make two on a page in portrait view. This gave me
ample room for the text that follows.
2. Type a riddle for each letter of the alphabet on a separate card. Each riddle
has four lines.
3. Save 13 pages of riddles on your computer.
4. Print the riddles on 4" x 6" index cards by changing properties to scale to fit
and scale to fit paper in device. Remember to change the placement from as is
to fit to page just before printing.
5. Print out a picture for each riddle on poster board.
6. Laminate the riddle cards and pictures for durability. Display all the pictures
in a pocket chart.
7. Whenever you have a few extra moments during a transition, read the riddle
cards and ask for volunteers to answer using the pictures for reference.
Note: Riddles and many alphabet activities can be found at
www.hummingbirded.com in the ABCs and emergent reading section.
