shape cards for circles, triangles, squares, and

rectangles in a small bag or envelope

Instructions

l Make shape cards for circles, triangles, squares, and rectangles.
l Draw large shapes on the dry-erase board or
chalkboard.
What to Do
1. Gather the children together
and engage them in a
discussion about the
differences between shapes.
2. Choose a child to go to the
chalkboard or dry-erase
board where the shapes are
drawn.
3. Call out a shape for the child
to find and erase.
4. Repeat with a different child
and different shape.

l Extend this activity by adding more shapes: oval, star, heart, diamond.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
l Can each child correctly identify the names of the shapes?
