Instructions

What to do
1. This is an activity best done outdoors on a warm day.
2. Let the children help you stir dirt and water together in a shallow tray to make mud.
3. Have the children take their shoes and socks off and hold their hands while they step into the
tray of mud. (It gets pretty slippery.)
4. Let them walk across a long strip of paper to create elephant tracks!
More to do
More art: Let the children dip their hands in the mud and make handprints on a sheet of paper.
Science: Create a "feely" bag. Put several different textured items such as a pinecone, wool, or a
feather in the bag and let the children use their sense of touch to guess what's inside.
