Eight Silly Monkeys by Steve Haskamp (illustrator), or a similar book which
counts backwards as part of the story
Instructions
1. Select eight children to stand in front of the circle.
2. As you read the story and each monkey disappears, have one child sit
down until all are sitting.
More to do Math: The Monster Math series by Anne Miranda has stories with different
numerical combinations that all add up to the same number. Read one of
these books and have the children rearrange themselves as you read.
