Materials

strawberry cream cheese or yogurt

red jam/jelly or pink icing

round crackers or cookies

plastic knives

paper plates

raisins

Instructions

1. Find an animal puppet and give it a calming name, such as "Hush Puppy" or
"Quiet Koala."
2. As the children are transitioning to circle time, bring out your calming
puppet.
3. Get the children's attention by telling them that Hush Puppy is very shy. Tell
them that they need to be very quiet so the puppet isn't afraid to come out
and join them.
4. Have the puppet whisper directions to children who are quiet and they can
repeat the directions to the group.
