Instructions

1. Place a refrigerator box on its back.
2. Use a utility knife to cut an opening in the middle of the box to place chairs
(adult only).
3. Cut out two pie shapes from the front of the box on the floor base (see illustration
on the next page).
4. Ask the children to paint the outside of the box.
5. Help the children cut out wave shapes from large blue paper and glue them
around the base of the boat.
6. Use duct tape to attach a long stick to the back of the boat. Cut out a large
triangle from large paper and tape it to the top of the stick to make a sail.
7. Place chairs inside the boat and go sailing!
More to do
Use the boat for a variety of themes, such as vehicles, the ocean, fish, boats, the
rain forest, or a jungle. Hang pictures and posters of famous artwork with boats.
Add fishing poles, toy walkie to talkies, binoculars, camera, goggles, diving masks,
and flippers to the boat play.
