Instructions

1. Reuse milk bottle lids by placing them in the Math Station. Ask the children
what shape the lids are. Have the children name the colors of the lids.
2. Arrange the lids into an ABAB pattern using two of the colors. Have the
children continue the pattern.
3. Using the same colors, create an AABAAB pattern, and have the children
continue the pattern.
4. Create an ABCABC pattern using three colors, and have the children continue
the pattern.
5. Begin different patterns for the children to continue, and then have them
design their own patterns.
Teacher - to - Teacher Tip
* Have the children bring clean, empty milk bottles with lids from home the
week before you plan on doing this activity. Collect the lids for the math
center to show the children that the lids can be reused. Recycle the bottles, or
see how else you can use them in the classroom.
