Instructions
1. Put vanilla extract on two cotton balls, cinnamon oil on two, and peppermint
oil on two more.
2. Place one cotton ball into each film canister or "bottle." (You will have two of
each smell.)
3. Invite the children to sniff one of the bottles and find the other that smells just
like it.
4. Continue with the other bottles.
5. Cap the containers when not in use.
More to do
Make bottles with other smells, such as coffee (put dry coffee in the bottom, and
a cotton ball on top) or pine (crush a twig of pine and a few needles). Be
cautious not to use chemicals that could be hazardous.
Language: Teach the children the names of the smells. Ask the children to name
something the smell reminds them of, such as ice cream, Christmas, or toothpaste.
