Materials

Instructions

1. Place the doll and the clothing items at a table or learning center.

2. Invite the children to practice dressing the doll.

3. As the child works, encourage him to identify the pattern on each item of clothing. Invite the child to make a pattern with the clothes, such as sock, shirt, sock, shirt, and so on.

4. Gather a collection of real clothing items that have a distinct pattern. Place them in the dramatic play center. Invite the children to try on the dress-up clothes and verbalize the pattern on each clothing item.
