Materials
one egg for each child
large pot
stove
mayonnaise
yellow mustard
sugar
three small containers
quart-size zipper-closure bags, one for each child
small plastic spoons and knives
Instructions
1. Place two cotton balls in the bottom of
each cup.
2. Pour enough potpourri oil on the cotton
balls to saturate. Make two cups of each
scent.
3. Write the names of the floral scents on
masking tape and stick to the bottom
of the matching cups.
4. Ask the children to match the scents
by finding two that smell the same.
5. For added difficulty, trace the cups onto a
piece of poster board. Glue one floral picture
(one for each scent) in each circle so that each
scent has a picture that it can be matched
to. Also, write the name of the flower
under the appropriate picture. After a
small group has had an opportunity
to smell the scents and discuss their
names, encourage the children to
try and match the cups to the
pictures they represent.
