Instructions
1. Help the children cut felt or burlap into pieces approximately 12" x 14" (30
cm x 35 cm).
2. Sew or glue the top of the felt piece to make a sleeve for a dowel rod.
3. Cut the dowel rod so that it is approximately 13" (32 cm) long.
4. Paint the child's foot with brown paint and help him make a footprint in the
middle of the felt piece. Be sure to leave space for two handprints.
5. Paint the child's hand with yellow paint. Ask him to rub his hands together,
then help him place his hands above his footprint to make antlers.
6. When the hand and footprints are dry, add eyes and a nose. Pour red paint
into a pan and black paint in another pan. Help the child place his thumb in
the red paint and press it onto the footprint to make a nose. After he wipes
off his thumb, he will press it into the black paint to make eyes.
7. Help the child's print his name and date using a permanent marker or fabric
paint pen.
8. Put the dowel through the sleeve.
9. Tie a string to both ends of the dowel rod to make a wall hanging.
10. These make great holiday gifts.
More to do
Vary the shape of the felt or burlap. Make a deer, reindeer, or Rudolph the
red-nosed reindeer instead of a moose. Use paper instead of material.
Punch holes and pull string through to make a hanger. Cut the edges with
pinking shears.
