What to do
1. Beforehand, cut construction paper in the shape of a Dalmatian. Make a shape for each child.
2. Have the children press their thumb on an inkpad, then use their thumbprint to make the
Dalmatian's spots and a black nose.
3. Tell the children to clean their fingers with the wipes.
4. When they are ready, have the children draw eyes and a mouth on their Dalmatian.
More to do
Dramatic play: Play a game of pet store with stuffed animals, assorted pet accessories, a cash register,
and play money.
Games: Play a matching game with Dalmatians cut from paper and laminated; match the number
of spots on the dog with the number of dog bones on a complementary set of cards.
Math: Create a set of flash cards cut in the shape of a Dalmatian, each displaying a different number
of spots.
More art: Make paw prints with your fingers and an inkpad or using paint and sponges; decorate
greeting cards, gift wrap, and the bulletin board with the prints.
Sand and water table: Add some bubble bath, sponges, and plastic toy animals to the water and
encourage the children to bathe their toy pets.
