Instructions
* Father's Day is the third Sunday of June.
1. Invite the children to bring their father or other special male to school
for a "Dad's Night."
2. Before the event, have the children dictate stories about their
dads/special males. Help the children think of ideas, for example:
* My father (uncle, grandpa, stepdad, etc.) makes the best...
* I love it when my father...
* My father and I play together...
3. Ask the children to draw a portrait of their dads or special males.
4. Post the stories and portraits around the room so the dads/special males
can read them. This gives the parents a chance to see what their children
do in the classroom and the children a chance to show their parents
what they do at school.
5. Set up the classroom just like any other day. Encourage the children and
their fathers/special males to participate in the activities together.
6. Do a circle time activity, an art activity (such as having the father and
child paint at the easel together), a sensory activity, and a quick music
activity.
7. Take a lot of pictures throughout the night.
8. Help the children make a book about the event and send the books
home as a gift for the parents.
