Transitions: As a transition from circle time to free play, chart the color of
everyone's favorite food. Ask the children to name some colors and write them
on a large sheet of paper. Go around the circle and ask each child what her
favorite food is. Then ask what color it is and write it under the appropriate color.
After a child names her favorite food, she may go to free play. At the next circle
time, count each color's list of food and discuss what color foods the group likes
more and what color they like the least.
