Materials

2 plastic coffee can lids of the same size Hardware cloth

Wire cutters Wire

Gloves Tape

Instructions

1. Measure the circumference of the lid.

2. Cut a length of hardware cloth to that measurement and cut the width as tall or as small as desired.

3. Roll the cloth into a cylinder shape and bend the edges inward.

4. Using wire, close up the seam.

5. Place one lid on the bottom and one on the top.

6. Capture a critter (insect) gently, and let it go after you've observed it.More to doArt: Using playdough or clay, let the children make bugs. Decorate with sticks, pipe cleaners, stones.More science: Display an ant or ladybug farm.
