Instructions

What to do
1. Give each child a paper bowl that has two
holes punched near the edge for yarn.
2. Invite the children to turn their bowls upside
down and then decorate them using different
color markers. They might draw stripes,
polka dots, or shapes.
3. When their marker designs are dry, have
them glue on a pom-pom in the center.
4. Give each child two pieces of yarn, and show
them how to tie one in each hole on the
side of the clown hat. Glue short ends inside
the hat.
5. Invite the children to put on their colorful
clown hats, tying them under their chins.
More to do
Dramatic play: Have a circus. Invite the children to do funny clown routines while wearing their
hats.
Game: Cut big feet or shoes out of cardboard or felt. Write a numeral on each foot or shoe. Place
them randomly on the floor. Start the music. Children walk around stepping only on the feet.
When the music stops, each child says the number that he is standing on.
