Instructions

1. Recycle demo CDs that come in the mail. By asking everyone you know to donate these to you (a simple memo in a school flier should produce all that you need), you have a fantastic resource for making games in the early childhood classroom! They are durable and easy for children to manipulate, and are much easier to work with than cutting out cardboard backings. You can use them to:* Teach the alphabet, numbers, and shapes. Children could create their own flashcards by painting on the CDs with tempera paints.* Create sequencing games. Cut out comic strips and glue each frame onto a separate CD. (Rubber cement works well for gluing paper onto the CDs.)* Create self-correcting sight word games. Glue pictures on one side of the CD and write the name of the object on the other side.* Make any number of matching games. Let the children make these using their imaginations!
