Heavyweight construction paper, 9" x 12" (23 cm x 30 cm)Construction paper cut in various shapes and sizes

Scissors

Glue

Markers

Instructions

1. Provide each child with a piece of heavyweight construction paper and scissors. Invite the childrento choose scraps of paper, or cut their own, which they will piece together in the shape ofa bug.

2. Help the children glue the scraps to the paper.

3. When they have finished their bugs, invite the children to draw and color a background fortheir bug.More to doField trip: Go on a bug hunt inside the school or outdoors and record the names of the bugs in ajournal. Be sure to teach the children to respect the bugs and their habitats.Language: Older children may write or dictate sentences about their bug.
