Instructions

1. To raise children's interest in math, give them several examples of when it is helpful to be able to count:* counting time in line when getting a drink at the water fountain* waiting for a turn at the swings and counting the number of times each child swings* knowing how many steps it is to the playground* scrubbing hands at least 25 seconds when washing* keeping track of pairs of shoes, socks, mittens, and so on2. Encourage the children to think of other times it is useful to know how to count.
