Materials

10 clean, empty frozen juice cans or other identical containersadhesive dots45 craft sticks

Instructions

1. Place the colored dots on the clean, dry juice cans starting with zero dots on the first can, one dot on the next can, and so on, until you have nine dots on the last can.

2. Give each child a can. Put all the craft sticks in a container where the children can reach them.

3. Ask the children to count the number of dots on their can and put that number of sticks in their can.

4. Let the children help each other. Offer help as needed.

5. Put the cans out during center time play. Encourage the children to explore them and practice their counting skills.
