Materials

Tempera paint, a variety of colors

Styrofoam meat trays

Plastic cookie cutters in Christmas shapes

Large sheets of white butcher paper

Scotch tape

Ribbon

Instructions

What to do1. Pour just enough tempera paint in each tray to cover the bottom with a thin layer.2. Place a few cookie cutters in each tray.3. Provide each child with a piece of butcher paper.4. Have the children print designs on the paper by dipping the cookie cutters in the paint andpressing them down on the paper. Suggest that the children print with their cookie cutter severaltimes before returning it to the tray.5. Encourage them to try printing with different cookie cutters and paint colors.6. When the wrapping papers have dried completely, provide the children with tape and ribbonfor wrapping their parents' Christmas gifts.
