Materials
Bread
Cookie cutters in desired shapes
Peanut butter
Jelly
Plastic knives and spoons
Instructions
1. Put a little toothpaste on a damp sponge.
2. Rub a small area of a tarnished spoon in a circular motion. Point out the
tarnish on the sponge.
3. Rub the polished area with the dry cloth, pointing out the shine.
4. Encourage the children to take turns polishing the spoon.
5. If desired, polish other silver items.
6. This activity seems almost like magic, as the children watch blackened metal
turn shiny and bright. Using toothpaste instead of silver polish makes this
perfectly safe.
