Materials

Empty gallon milk, juice, or punch container

Scissors

String or rope

Plastic ball with holes in it (found in sports sections of stores)

Instructions

1. Soak the bean seeds overnight in water.

2. Give each child a plastic sandwich bag with a damp paper towel in it. Help the children print their names on top of their bag.

3. Ask each child to place a bean seed inside the bag, in front of the paper towel, so the seed can be observed clearly.

4. Seal the bags.

5. Tape the bags onto a large piece of cardboard and place it near a window.

6. Each day, encourage the children to observe what is happening to the seeds.More to do:Make three "bean bags" as above. Cover one of the bags so it does not get light, do not water the second one, and water and keep the third one in sunlight. Make weekly comparisons of the three bags.
