Instructions
l Give each child a set of construction paper (with red, orange, brown, green,
purple, yellow, and white).
l Set out child-safe scissors, magazines (or clip art), and glue sticks. If desired,
cut out pictures of food in advance.
What to Do
1. Ask the children to cut out
pictures of food from magazines
and sort them into piles by color.
2. Ask the children to glue foods on
their matching color page
(strawberries and cherries would
go on the red paper, pumpkins
and oranges on the orange paper, and so on).
Demonstrate by gluing a few pictures on a page so the
children get the idea.
3. As a class (or in groups) have the children share their food pages.
4. Discuss the importance of eating a variety of foods in each color. Explain the
nutritional benefits these foods can provide.
