Instructions
1. Place a few clothespins in a bowl. (Increase the number of clothespins as the
children's skill develops.)
2. Demonstrate grasping the clothespin with the thumb and two fingers, squeezing
to open the clothespin.
3. Place the clothespin on the rim of the bowl, demonstrating how to release
your grasp to close the clothespin.
4. Repeat step two, removing the clothespin and placing it in the bowl.
5. Invite the child to clip the clothespins to the bowl, then remove them.

Games: Play a relay game with clothespins. Divide the children into two teams
and give each child a clothespin. Children will grasp a paper cup with the
clothespin, race to the goal line, return, and transfer the cup to the next child
in line.
Language: Sort the clothespins by color and learn the color names.
Math: Count the clothespins. Group them by color, leaving space between the
colors. How many are there of each color? Which color has the most? The least?
