Poster board circles, one per child

What to do
1. Beforehand, draw six equal segments on the poster board circles. Pour red, blue, yellow, orange,
purple, and green paint into containers. Paint six clothespins for each child in the colors listed.
2. Show the children a color wheel and have them paint their wheel in the same manner. Allow
the color wheels to dry.
3. Distribute the clothespins.
4. Invite the children to match the clothespins to the correct color segment on the wheel by clipping
them along the rim.
More to do
Games: Create a giant color wheel for the floor; players hop from one segment to another as they
answer questions about color.
More art: Make additional color wheels with other colors. Let the children design their own
wheels. Have the children cut pictures from old magazines and place them on a color wheel in
the classroom.
