Materials
construction paper in each color to be taught
small objects that match construction paper colors
Instructions
l Using the green marker, draw lines on the construction paper to divide it into
five sections. Number each section from 1 to 5. Draw the corresponding
numbers of dots next to each number. For example, one dot next to 1, two
dots next to 2, and so on.
What to Do
1. Set out the construction paper and green buttons. Ask the children to identify
the color of the buttons.
2. Tell the children to place the indicated number of buttons in each section.
3. Once they have placed their buttons on their paper, count with them to check
and see if they have the correct number in each section.
4. If appropriate, help the children identify the materials.
Poem
Green by Laura Wynkoop
Shamrocks and turtles
And evergreen trees,
Iguanas and pickles
And lettuce and peas.
Snakes and zucchini,
And ivy and ferns,
It's easy to see green
Wherever one turns.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
l Review the color of the buttons and the numbers 1 to 5.
l Did the children place the correct number of buttons in each section of the
construction paper?
