Water
Four 1 cup (240 ml) measuring cups
Food coloring
Eyedroppers
Large area of sand, either outdoors or in the sensory table
Instructions
1. Talk about the power and heat of the sun with the children. Ask them what they think would happen if they left colored paper in the sun for a week.
2. Draw an outline of the sun on a piece of white paper. Make enough copies to give one to each child.
3. Give each child a piece of dark colored paper and a picture of a sun outline. Ask the children to cut out the outline of the sun and tape it onto their piece of construction paper.
4. Hang the papers in a sunny window for a week, with the sun outline facing the window.
5. In a week, take down the papers and remove the sun outlines.
