Instructions

Tape the squares on the floor around the classroom. There should be one
square for every child in the class. Place a CD or tape in the stereo.
What to Do
1. Point out different
squares on the
classroom floor and
help the children
identify the colors.
2. Ask every child to
stand on a square.
3. Play the music and
have the children
move from square to square. When the music stops, the children need to stop
and shout out the name of the color they are standing on.
4. Vary the movements by having the children walk from square to square, or
hop, skip, tiptoe, dance, and so on.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
l Review the color names with the children as well as what they did during the
activity when the music stopped and started.
