Instructions

1. Read the story The Mitten by Alvin Tresselt to the children, preferably more
than one time.
2. In the Art Station, give the children paper plates to use to create animals from
the mitten story. Encourage the children to draw faces and/or use collage
materials to create their own versions of the animals.
3. The children can glue large craft sticks to the plates to make stick puppets.
More to do
Encourage the children to use their puppets to act out the story. Use a sheet or
blanket as a mitten.
