Tag board

Scissors

Paint

Crayons

Glue

Collage materials such as sequins, pompoms, and glitter

Child's Photo or drawing

Instructions

1. Beforehand, cut a picture frame out of tag board for each child. Older children might be able tocut out their own frame with some assistance.

2. Have the children decorate their frames with paint, crayons, and the collage materials.

3. Let the frames dry.

4. Have the children choose whether the frame will hold a photo or a favorite drawing. Hang theframes around the classroom or wrap them as gifts for their family.More to doField trip: Visit an art gallery or the art department at a local high school.More art: Create self-portraits using a variety of media; choose one of the portraits for your collageframe. Make a variety of framing mats from paper; encourage the children to choose a matfor their artwork.
