clear, wide book tape

four bowls

file folders

variety of coin sorting machines (these are great to borrow from parents)

Instructions

1. Trace a menorah and candles on tagboard and cut out. Number the candles
from one to eight (leaving the middle holder empty for the main candle,
called the shamash). Laminate for durability.
2. On each candle except the shamash, punch enough holes to match the
number on the candle.
3. Add Velcro (for Velcro boards) or magnetic tape (for cookie sheets or
magnetic boards).
4. Encourage the children to practice numeral recognition and counting, and
explore the tradition of Hanukkah at the same time!
More to do This can be done with Kwanzaa, too. Use only seven candles, and no main
candle. Use red, black, and green.
