Materials

clotheslinebasketclip clothespins (marked with the numerals 1 to 10)laminated die-cut shapes or note pad shapes (numbered 1 to 10)

Instructions

1. Hang a clothesline in the room. Place numbered clothespins in a basket near the clothesline.

2. Invite the children to put the clothespins on the clotheslines in the correct order from left to right.

3. Once the children have mastered putting the clothespins in order, put out numbered die-cut shapes. Encourage the children to match the shapes to the clothespins with the same numbers.

4. When all the clothespins and shapes are matched, attach them in order on the clothesline. Ask the children to close their eyes, and have one child remove one or two shapes from the clothesline. The children open their eyes and guess which numbers are missing.
