Instructions

What to do
1. To prepare, cut out a large circle from tag board and draw a face on it. Cut out eight tentacles,
between 12" and 18" (30 cm and 45 cm).
2. Distribute one tentacle to every two or three children. Have the children decorate the tentacles
using crayons, markers, and small collage supplies.
3. When the children are finished, fasten the tentacles around the edge of the circle with paper
fasteners.
4. Let the children gently move the tentacles back and forth, then hang the octopus in a display
or mural of sea life.
More to do
Games: Cut a large octopus head and tentacles from poster board and play Pin the Tentacles on
the Octopus. Or, cut eight small tentacles and a head from cardboard for each team and conduct
a relay race; the first team to place all eight tentacles on their octopus wins.
Math: Count the tentacles on the octopus; divide them in half and quarters. Number the tentacles
with a magic marker.
