Instructions

* Write the numbers 0 to 5 on the six faces of the cube. You may prepare a
second cube (0, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10) once the children master the first one.
What to Do
1. Ask the children to sit in a circle. They take turns rolling the
cube. When the cube stops, the number on top
indicates how many times they should clap.
Note: Explain to the children that when the cube
lands on 0, they should not clap at all.
2. For variety, have the children snap their
fingers, click their tongues, or stand
and stamp their feet. This is a good
way to teach the concept of zero, so
be sure 0 is on each cube.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the
following:
* Can the children recognize the numbers?
* Can the children clap the appropriate number of times?
* Can the children begin to understand the concept of zero?
