Instructions

Cut 12" circles out of various colored sheets of construction paper.
l Use the can opener on empty 6-ounce and 15-counce cans to remove both
ends.
l Make sure the rough edges are smoothed out and taped over, if necessary, so
no little hands will be cut.
What to Do
1. Pour the paint in small shallow pans.
2. Show the children how to dip the
end of a can into the paint and print
a circle on their circle papers.
Encourage them to print several
circles without dipping the can into
the paint again.
3. Remind the children to use different
sizes of cans, trying to fit the print of
a smaller can into the print of a
larger can. Also, remind them not to
slide the can to keep the circle clear
and easy to see.
Teacher - to - Teacher Tip
l Eat a snack of circle-shaped cereal on round plates or bowls.
Assessment
To assess the children's learning, consider the following:
l Show the children a group of shapes and ask them to find all the circles.
l Can the children use the cans to make circles without smudging them?
