Materials

Old Christmas cards scissors glue stick red and green construction paper computer (or black water-based marker) laminator binder, optional

Instructions

1. Old Christmas cards are great to use to illustrate a classroom book quickly. Get the whole class involved in looking through the cards to locate the needed pictures.

2. Cut out various Christmas items from the cards, such as a snowman, candle, Christmas tree, poinsettia, wreath, bells, sleigh, manger, pinecones, candy canes, stocking, reindeer, and so on.

3. Cut the desired number of construction paper pages approximately 8" x 9".

4. Glue one Christmas shape to the front and back of each construction paper page, alternating the pages between red and green.

5. Label the pictures using a large font on your computer or a black, waterbased pen.

6. Cut the front and back covers 8 1/2 " x 10".

7. Label the front cover with an appropriate title such as "The Magic of Christmas."8. Laminate the pages and covers for a longer shelf life.

9. Assemble the pages into a book and bind the book on the left using a binding machine, if available.

10. Put the book in your reading area.
