Instructions

1. Whenever the class goes on a field trip, take along clipboards for the children
to document or draw what is meaningful to them during the trip. You may
want to allow a time after field trip events to let the children draw their
thoughts.
2. Later, discuss what the children learned on the trip.
3. Use the children's documentation as a curriculum focus for the theme or
topic. This allows for further in-depth investigations of the unit and keeps the
children's interest longer. The result of the documentations may stay with the
current topic or may branch off into another area of interest entirely.
4. Display the results so that the children can view them as often as necessary
and allow the parents to see them, too.
