Instructions
February is Black History Month!1. Prior to Black History Month, ask parents to sign up to do one of twothings:
- Share with the children favorite music written and/or performed by anAfrican American.
- Read a picture book written by an African American, or read a picturebook in which the central characters are African American.
2. Begin each day of Black History Month with music chosen by parents. Ask parents to talk with the children about why they like the musician,and if possible, share a little biographical information about themusician, particularly information about the musician's childhood.
3. End each day of Black History Month with a story read by a parent.
